Stunning Barre Studios Featured Image

The World’s Most Stylish Barre Studios

By Barre franchise information, Just for Fun No Comments

The aesthetic of a studio shouldn’t matter as much as the quality of the instruction, however, in an increasingly competitive fitness landscape, the most inviting spaces are drawing in more clients over their dingy basement competitors.

More than ever, studios are putting an emphasis on design, by investing in architects and offering spa-like amenities for their clients.

The studios on this list are places we would want to escape to.

Pop Physique: The Silverlake and Westside locations in LA

Silver Lake

Address: 3501 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
In L.A.’s artsy hood lies the flagship location for Pop Physique, the ultra hip barre franchise that is slowly expanding across North America. It’s their original 4000 square foot location though, with its vine-covered exterior and beautiful hardwood floors (and ceiling) that make this one of the fitness industry’s hottest properties.

The founders of Pop Physique conceptualized a space the Creative Class could use and its apparent with its bubbly aesthetic interior that make this studio stand apart from its competitors.

Westside

Address: 12024 Venice Blvd, Mar Vista, CA
Pop Physique’s Westside location features dark bamboo floors as well as giant windows and high ceilings on the ground floor of a loft building. Having lots of natural light in this airy space is just one of the reasons why this location makes the list.

Industrial Barre:
 NE Broadway

Location: 1911 NE Broadway St, Portland, OR
At first glance you might not even be able to tell that this is a barre studio. The owners want to make you feel more like you are going to the spa than to a workout. Their approach to making their space more than just another workout studio is apparent when you walk through the doors of this Portland Studio. The interior decor lives up to its name, with recycled construction materials, metal work and branded wallpaper in gold. The lobby, which is described as “inviting” via their official website looks more like a stylish living room, suited for an upscale loft.

BarreBelle: Downtown (Mission)

Address: #103, 1812 4th Street SW, Calgary, AB
BarreBelle’s studios are so nicely appointed that we couldn’t decide which of their three locations should make the list, so we included two!

The first, their downtown Calgary location has an interesting history. It used to be a bank before it was creatively transformed into a studio. You can see remnants of the previous structure in their retail space, which is conveniently called “The Vault.”

The studio features beautiful crown molding, which serves as a natural backdrop for many Instagram photos. The bathrooms and changing area are equally stunning. On the walls, a statement mural from Vancouver’s Anewall above a highly glossed concrete floor.

Is Portland the Barre Capital of the World?

By Barre Culture, Barre3, Just for Fun, Pure Barre One Comment
Hundreds turn out to Barre3 in the Park, in barre capital Portland.

Hundreds turn out to Barre3 in the Park.

Could Portland, Oregon be the barre capital of the world? Now before you say, “What about New York or LA?” Hear me out. Yes, LA alone has at least 6 Pure Barre studios in the city and immediate surrounding area. However, they also have a large enough population to support a franchise in nearly every neighbourhood. Relatively, Portland has a population of about 609,000, which is one-sixth the size of Los Angeles and yet they are home to more than a dozen barre-specific studios.

No doubt the biggest player in Portland is Barre3, one of the major barre businesses in the fitness game. Along with their flagship studio and headquarters, they have five additional studios, hosting an average 280 classes per week.

It’s not unusual to see hundreds came out to their annual Barre3 in the Park event, or wake up at the crack of dawn to attend a class before sunrise at any one of their 6 locations each week.

The city is also home to Pure Barre, The Bar Method and Xtend Barre, 3 locations from Portland barre franchise Industrial Barre and some independents like The Pilates Barre and Mod Physique. That is roughly one barre studio for every 43,000 people. No matter which neighbourhood you live in, you’re more likely than not to be a stone’s throw away from a barre business.

Whether or not you agree with Portland being the barre capital of the world, there is no denying that Portland is full of barre fanatics.

Why is barre so popular in this mid-size city?

Is a Portlander more likely to value physical activity? Are they ahead of the curve? I have a feeling that Portland might be a more fit conscious community but if someone from Portland could chime in, that would be great.
